This building is of Spanish Mission Style and was built in 1917 as the First Friends Church. It was acquired by the university in 1961 and adapted to house offices of the Institute of Behavioral Science.
Established in 1957, the institute conducts interdisciplinary research on the problems of society, engaging faculty from many of the social and behavioral sciences.
Areas of study include environment and society, health and society, political and economic change, population, problem behavior, and the study and prevention of violence.
