Just before the bike path passes under Discovery Drive, look west to see the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) building.
LASP has been an active participant in the U.S. space program since the early 1950s. LASP researchers, primarily students and faculty, conduct fundamental research in the atmospheric and planetary sciences, develop space instrumentation, and even control unmanned spacecraft.
In the mountain backdrop is Arapahoe Glacier, for years the primary source of Boulder’s water. From here, cross under Colorado Avenue and continue along the Wellman Canal Trail, cross Monroe Street, staying on a bike path near multi-family development. Turn south on the Bear Creek Path, before the Foothills Parkway pedestrian/bike bridge.
