What is the Mission of MASP?

The MASP mission is to achieve and maintain national recognition as one of the top natural science, humanities, social sciences based academic excellence program. The program focuses on retention, graduation of, and post-bachelor degree preparation for its scholars.

What are the MASP Objectives?

To increase enrollment of traditionally underrepresented students, students of color as well as students who wish to be part of a diverse community at CU-Boulder.
To work with students to build their university-level academic proficiency in order to achieve academic excellence at CU-Boulder.
To provide scholars with professional skills and tools necessary for advancement in science, humanities and social science careers.
To assist students in their transition from their undergraduate degree to their post-baccalaureate plans.
To provide financial assistance for participating scholars.

What are the MASP Co-seminars and Seminars?

To achieve and maintain academic excellence, MASP scholars enroll in a series of semester-long, one-credit co-seminars and seminars which are dictated by whether students have declared a major in the natural sciences or math, the social sciences, humanities or lively arts. MASP instructors design these challenging courses to extend students' understanding beyond the concepts presented in classes.

What kind of Academic Advising does MASP offer?

Scholars receive advice on course selection and academic preparation necessary for successful science and humanities' careers. MASP students are clustered in course lectures and common recitation sections. The goal is to mitigate a sense of isolation and to provide scholars with the opportunity to form effective study groups.

What is the MASP CARE Study Center?

The MASP Office provides a supportive environment to study and network with fellow MASP scholars. State-of-the-art computer hardware and software are maintained for MASP students to complete assignments. The center also serves as a convenient campus base for commuting MASP scholars.

How do I get a Scholarship?

Financial assistance, in the form of participation grants, is offered to incoming freshmen who successfully complete the MASP Summer PEAC and who consistently meet all program requirements. Affiliates who complete the two-semester affiliate period will be considered for participation grants from the third semester onward, provided they consistently meet all program requirements thereafter.
