MASP Community Gatherings
During the year, MASP holds a variety of celebrations designed to gather its students and faculty and congratulate the students on their academic achievements. These are not quotidian celebrations, but are an integral part an academic program. During the Fall and Spring Welcome Gatherings, we introduce new members of the community, honor academic achievements, set goals for the upcoming semester, inform the community of important events and spend time catching up with each other. The Holiday Gathering provides another opportunity for community members to reconnect with each other and to honor achievements students have made during the semester.

Spring Welcome Back

Graduation (End-of-Year) Banquet
At the end of every academic year, the entire MASP community honors its graduates at our End-of-Year Banquet. This event also serves as an important reminder to all students of the significance of graduating both for themselves and for a larger community. Students are encouraged to pursue this goal by seeing their peers honored in this way and come to anticipate their own ceremony.
The End-of-Year Banquet is important for us as an academic community within the University of Colorado. Although the university aspires to graduate as many underrepresented students as possible, it is through the academic neighborhood model that the greatest success has been achieved. MASP exists to give high achieving underrepresented students the support that ensures their graduation. Everything we work toward in this program is centered on our students’ success, and when our students succeed, we look forward to lauding their accomplishments in a public way. Hosting the banquet allows us to honor our students in a manner that befits the occasion of their graduation and reaffirms their value as members they are of a larger academic community.
