RETAIL SALES IN COLORADO UP 38 PERCENT SINCE 1987,COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE STORES LEAD THE WAY

Colorado's 22,921 retail stores had sales totaling $28.5 billion in 1992, the Commerce Department's Census Bureau reported today.

The 1992 sales were an increase of 38 percent from 1987 for the State's retailers. Nationwide, retail sales rose an estimated 24 percent over the 5-year period.

Computer and software stores were the fastest growing among Colorado's retailers, with sales up 251 percent since 1987.
