Colorado Division of
Wildlife provides data on the big game, small game, turkey,
and waterfowl hunting seasons. Information varies by hunt. Can
include waterfowl counts, summaries of recent elk, deer, antelope,
bear, moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goat, and desert bighorn
sheep hunting seasons.
Colorado State
Parks features information about state parks including
reservations, maps, trail guides, geology and environment,
activities, regulations, and other information.
National Park
Service Public Use Statistics Office provides data on
recreation visits by state and a decade-by-decade summary of
visits to National Parks. In addition, the site provides access to
Statistical Abstracts for selected years in .pdf format. The
abstracts include data on: Recreation Visits by State, Recreation
Visits by Region and Population Center, Recreation Visits/Visitor
Days by Park, Overnight Stays by Park , Buses by Park, Recreation
Visits/Visitor Days by Park and by State, and Overnight Stays by
State. Select the "Index" for access to data.
National Park
Service Units in Colorado. These currently include: Bent's Old
Fort National Historic Site; Black Canyon of the Gunnison National
Park; Colorado National Monument; Curecanti National Recreation
Area; Dinosaur National Monument; Florissant Fossil Beds National
Monument; Great Sand Dunes National Monument; Hovenweep National
Monument; Mesa Verde National Park; Rocky Mountain National Park;
Yucca House National Monument.
Recreation.Gov
provides a searchable database of recreational opportunities on
federal lands. Choose a state and recreation activity. The
database will generate a list of relevant parks, forests, and
other facilties. The individual entries include a description of
the site, link to the agency which manages it, links to
interactive mapping from the National Atlas and a current weather
report.
Roadless Areas
"are National Forest System lands that have remained generally
unroaded for a variety of reasonsinaccessibility, rugged
terrain, or environmental sensitivity." The site includes
background materials. Maps
for the entire state and invididual areas are available
online.
