Colorado's 32,878 service establishments with paid employees had receipts of $18.8 billion in 1992, as reported today by the Commerce Department's Census Bureau.
The 1992 receipts were an increase of 63 percent from 1987 for the State's service establishments. Nationwide, services receipts increased an estimated 58 percent over the 5-year period.
Offices and clinics of doctors of medicine had the greatest dollar volume increase in receipts among Colorado's service establishments, up $659.0 million over the 5-year period. Prepackaged software was the fastest growing, up 299 percent from 1987.
The 1992 Census of Service Industries also shows that:
State and County data presented in this release for Colorado are for establishments subject to Federal income tax. The full report also shows data for metropolitan areas, cities and small places; and for non-profit establishments exempt from Federal income taxes. Data are in current dollars for the years specified and are not adjusted for inflation.
