• Zip Code Statistics provides data on total number of establishments and number of establishments by employment-size classes by detailed industry. Data on mid-March employment, first quarter payroll, and annual payroll are summarized by ZIP Code without industry detail. Data is collected annually.

Economic Census--1992, 1997 and 2002. The Economic Census includes data on the number of establishments, total sales or receipts in thousands of dollars, number of employees, and annual payroll in thousands of dollars. Establishments are classified by NAICS code (1997) or SIC code (1992).

• Use American Factfinder for area statistics. It contains detailed data by state, metropolitan statistical area, county, and economic place. The data are available in a variety of formats: display in the browser window or download in comma and tab delimited ASCII text formats. The industry series includes data on selected sectors by state. Use the Geography Quick Report menu to select the type of area (state, county, economic place, etc.). Then select "Colorado" from the list of states. Select your area from the list. The system defaults to the 2-digit NAICS codes. To get more detailed data, position your cursor over the "Change Selections" tab near the top of the page. If you choose "Other Reports" you can drill down into data at the 3-6 digit levels of NAICS codes.
• Non Employer Statistics (1997-1999) Lists the number of establishments and sales receipts in thousands of dollars. "Includes only firms subject to federal income tax. Nonemployers are businesses with no paid employees....In terms of sales or receipts, nonemployers account for roughly 3% of business activity. At the same time nonemployers account for nearly 3/4 of all businesses". Data for the US, states, counties, and metro areas.
• Economic Census (1997): Comparative Statistics 1987 SIC Basis National and state data. These reports present data from the 1997 Economic Census classified according to the 1987 Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) system. According to the Census, this is the "only basis that allows broad comparisons between the 1997 and prior year data". Choose "Colorado" from the pull-down menu. The application provides data on the number of establishments, sales, receipts, or shipments in $1,000s of dollars, number of paid employees, and annual payroll in $1,000s of dollars for the years 1992 and 1997 and the percent change from 1992 to 1997. Use the blue arrows on the right to access more detailed data. Includes data in formats for downloading.
• Zip Code Statistics provides data to the 2-digit NAICS codes by state, first three digits of the zip code, and individual zipcodes. Includes the number of establishments, number of paid employees, annual sales or receipts in thousands of dollars and annual payroll in thousands of dollars.
