Census 2000

• American Factfinder (Census Bureau) provides 1990 and 2000 Census data on cities, towns, metropolitan statistical areas, counties, Census-designated places, and other levels of geography.
• Census 2000 Supplementary Survey provides estimates of demographic, social, economic, and housing characteristics for the United States and the fifty states. The Census recently released data on cities and counties in Colorado with populations of 250,000 or more. These include the cities of Aurora, Colorado Springs, and Denver and Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Denver, El Paso, and Jefferson counties. State-level data is available from the pull-down menu of states. For access to city and county data, choose the link to Census 2000 Supplementary Survey Summary Tables near the bottom of the page. The survey includes:
  • "data on sex, age, race, Hispanic origin, household type, housing occupancy, homeowners, renters, and additional topics." 
  • "information on school enrollment, educational attainment, marital status, disability status, migration, place of birth, language spoken at home, ancestry, and additional topics."
  • "information on labor force status, commuting, occupation, income and benefits, poverty, and additional topics."
  • "units in structure, year structure built, number of rooms, vehicles available, type of heating fuel, occupants per room, value of housing unit, mortgage status, amount of rent paid, and additional topics."
• General Demographic Characteristics: Colorado a report in .pdf format. Includes data on population by sex, by age, by race, by Hispanic origin. In addition, it includes data on relationships between occupants of households, household types, housing occupancy and housing tenure for the state, cities, Census designated places, towns, primary metropolitan statistical areas, congressional districts, Indian reservations, and the state as a whole.

• 1990 Census of Population and Housing includes data on cities, towns, and Census Designated Places. Data grouped into summary, housing, income, labor, and social topics,
• U. S. Gazetteer Search by place name or zipcode. You may select population and housing variables from the 1990 Census STF1A, STF3A tables. The STF1A data series includes the data gathered for 100 percent of the population. The STF3A data series includes the data gathered from a population sample. About one-sixth of the population answered the longer, more-detailed Census questionnaire.
• 1990 Census Lookup includes access to tract or blockgroup data from STF1A and STF3A CD-ROMS. For tract or blockgroup data, choose "Go to level State--County" after making your initial selection of STF1A or STF3A.
• Economic Census 1992 and 1997 includes economic data for places with population greater than 2500 and economic data by zip code.
• Agriculture Census Although most data in the Agriculture Census is available on a county level, zip code tabulations are available for the 1992 census.
• Consolidated Federal Funds Report Includes information on Federal government obligations or expenditures by municipality.
• Municipal Housing Unit Estimates---Colorado Department of Local Affairs. Data from the 2000 Census and estimates for 1999, 2000 and 2001.
• Piper Directory of State and Local Government Find a city, county, or state website.
