TAB: Dual Degree Programs - University of Colorado-Boulder (CU-Boulder)

Juris Doctor/Master of Business Administration (JD/MBA)

To be eligible for the dual JD/MBA program, you must apply separately to and be admitted by both the University of Colorado Law School and CU-Boulder’s Leeds School of Business (“Business School”). (Law School Rule 38(B).) We encourage students who intend to enroll in the JD/MBA program to take both the GMAT and LSAT before applying to either school, and to apply to both the JD Program and the MBA program prior to matriculating. A student admitted to both programs can choose whether to do the first year in the Law School or the Business School (not both). The first year involves full immersion in one program. Depending on your goals, either can be an appropriate choice.

Taking your first year at the Law School requires you to begin paying Law School tuition and fees. Starting at the Business School, however, enables you to pay MBA tuition and fees for the first year of the program. As soon as you begin taking Law School classes and for all semesters thereafter, you would pay Law School tuition and fees. We encourage you to check into these costs in advance of enrollment as they may vary and, accordingly, could influence your decision in terms of where you would like to start during your time at CU-Boulder.

Current JD students can apply to the MBA program anytime, including during 1L year. Consult the MBA program website for more information and contact the Business School admissions staff with any questions.
