Student Life
Welcome to the University of Colorado Law School where our students rank in the top tier statistically, come from more than one hundred undergraduate institutions, represent a rich blend of geographic and ethnic backgrounds, and bring experiences of leadership, career achievement, and community service. Although competitiveness among students with such elite qualifications is typical, at Colorado Law collegiality comes first. The school’s size and setting allow for a collaborative yet personalized approach to legal education.
As a public institution with a tradition of public service and public interest law, we strive to instill in our students an awareness of a lawyer’s civic responsibilities and opportunities to serve and lead. Students are actively engaged inside the classroom, as well as outside, with 350 Law School-hosted events every year, 32 student organizations, 3 student journals, countless legal volunteer opportunities, broader University events, and a range of social and outdoor activities that only the Rocky Mountains can provide.
Services
Colorado Law’s faculty and administration are dedicated to helping all our law students not only succeed, but thrive both academically and personally. The Senior Assistant Dean for Students provides and array of assistance and support to students:
- Primary liaison between students and administration
- Rothgerber Academic Assistance Program: Individual first-year students are tutored by upper-division students in particular subject areas. This assistance is available to all 1Ls on a space-available basis, but if more students request tutoring than can be reasonably accommodated, preference is given to those students who, in the school's judgment, would benefit most from tutoring based on the academic records of students requesting assistance. The program has been supported since 1990 by the firm of Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons.
- Academic and general counseling
- Student organizations and journal support
- Student event funding
- Accommodations to students with disabilities
- Access to programs and campus life information
- Community concerns
- Student emergencies
