Interlibrary Loan Lending

The Law Library will lend materials to another library upon request. Items circulate for four weeks. If the borrowing library requests a renewal and the book has not been requested by a Law Library patron, the item may be renewed for another two weeks. Charges for this service are listed below.

As a general rule, the Law Library does not lend non-circulating materials such as periodicals, looseleafs, reference books, reserve materials, or media resources (e.g., reporters, statutes, microforms, videotapes, CD-ROMs).

The Law Library will provide copies of periodical articles through interlibrary loan. Charges for this service are listed below.

An interlibrary loan request may be made using one of the following methods:

• Electronically through Prospector or OCLC.
• ALA or IFLA ILL request form sent by mail, courier or fax.
• Request form containing the standard interlibrary loan information (e.g., a printed ILL Form, as defined by the Colorado State Library) received by mail, courier or fax.
• Telephone call followed by receipt of one of the above within one working day.

Borrowing libraries are responsible for the safety of borrowed materials from the time the material leaves the Law Library until it is returned to the Law Library. If damage or loss occur, the borrowing library must meet all costs of repair or replacement, as specified by the Law Library.

The borrowing library must make every effort to locate and return overdue or lost items. If an item is lost, the borrowing library may order and replace the missing material or pay the Law Library's current lost book charge.

Interlibrary Loan Lending Charges

ILL invoices are sent with the requested materials. An invoice is due and payable no later than 30 days after the invoice date. The Law Library is required by state law to send all past due accounts to the State of Colorado for collection

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction.
