CEES BRIEFING ON NREL INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Wednesday, April 18th
12:00 pm
Room 206, Wolf Law Building
Pizza Provided!

Dr. Doug Arent, EESI Advisory Board Member and Director of the Strategic Energy Analysis Center (SEAC) at the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), will discuss internship opportunities for Colorado Law and other CU graduate students.

What is SEAC?

NREL and the Strategic Energy Analysis Center (SEAC) conduct a broad range of energy analysis in support of NREL programs and initiatives, DOE's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), technology transfer, and the greater energy analysis community. SEAC integrates and supports the energy analysis functions located in many of NREL's research programs and technology centers. With offices in Washington, D.C., and Golden, Colorado, SEAC promotes understanding and collaboration through partnerships, publications, conferences and seminars, and various on-line resources.

What is the mission of SEAC?

The SEAC's mission is to increase the understanding of the current and future characteristics, roles, and interactions of government, markets, and technology; and to use that understanding to inform technology, program, policy, and market decisions as energy-efficient and renewable energy technologies advance from concept to commercial application.

Energy analysis at NREL is conducted in five major areas of interest (see diagram below) focusing on technology, benefits, market, policy, and program analysis. This analysis covers a broad range of research program—from life-cycle assessments and vehicle systems to online renewable energy analysis applications. The analyses aim to understand the interaction of policy, technology and their applications, and markets.
