CEES RELEASES 2007 REPORT ON COLORADO & GREENHOUSE GAS TRADING MARKETS

GHG Markets and Colorado

On March 15, 2007, CEES released a report that analyzes burgeoning international and domestic greenhouse gas (GHG) markets with respect to opportunities and risks for Colorado.

Funded by a grant from the Colorado General Assembly, the report delineates current trends in GHG markets, and sets forth key recommendations for ensuring that Colorado is able to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by such markets, while minimizing risks associated with uncertain regulatory environments.

Commenting on the award of the grant to CEES in July of 2006, U.S. Senator Wayne Allard (R-Colorado) remarked: “I am delighted that Colorado has selected CEES for this grant. CEES will provide an objective and valuable assessment of how Colorado should position itself relative to climate change markets.” Senator Allard is co-chair of the bi-partisan Senate Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Caucus.

“There are opportunities and risks associated with policy responses to climate change,” said Kevin Doran, Project Supervisor and CEES Research Fellow. “This report provides Colorado decision-makers with the type of quality information and analysis on greenhouse gas markets needed to strategically respond to these challenges."
