Marshall-Brennan Teaching Fellowship

In order to be considered for the fellowship, law students must:

  1. Complete a brief application form.
The application form will be made available in the spring approximately two weeks prior to the fall registration deadline.
  2. Register for Education and the Constitution
If you are selected as a Marshall-Brennan Teaching Fellow, you must commit to the yearlong Education and the Constitution course.  In addition to attending class at the law school each week, students must commit to teaching at their high school placement at least one time each week.  Students can earn 2 or 3 credits in the fall semester, and 2 credits in the spring semester.  In order to earn 3 credits in the fall, students must take this course as a seminar and complete an extensive research paper.
  3. Commit to attending a teaching retreat.
All students who are selected as Marshall-Brennan Teaching Fellows must attend an 8-hour teaching retreat, which is typically held at the end of the first week of fall classes.  At the retreat fellows learn how to develop lesson plans and skills for effective classroom management from accomplished high school teachers and law professors.

If you have any questions about the class or the application process, please contact Professor Hart at melissa.hart@colorado.edu.
