Reciprocity

Colorado Law’s Career Development Office grants reciprocal services to students and alumni of other ABA-accredited/NALP member law schools that accord reciprocal privileges to Colorado Law students and alumni. The Office reserves the right to adjust the stated policy if the requesting school has a more restrictive policy. Moreover, we will review this policy periodically to keep pace with employment demands of the legal community. In certain cases, we may refuse reciprocity due to lack of mutual interest by our students/alumni. This policy has been occasioned by the heavy demands of numerous law students/alumni attracted to the Denver Metropolitan area.

  • We grant reciprocity only to students and graduates of ABA-accredited/NALP member law schools that allow Colorado Law students and alumni to use their Career Development facilities. We grant reciprocity requests on a one-to-one basis. If an imbalance occurs, we may implement a temporary freeze until a balance is achieved.
  • We grant reciprocity for two months for each request, effective from the date of correspondence in which reciprocal privileges are affirmatively extended.
  • Your Career Development Office should send reciprocity requests to lscareer@colorado.edu, certifying that you are a student/graduate of that law school. The letter should also reflect agreement by the requesting law school that their Career Development Office will offer reciprocity to Colorado Law students/graduates.
  • Please be aware there is a blackout period from August 1st to November 1st where no reciprocity requests will be granted.
