Colorado Law announced this week the receipt of a $200,000 gift from the national law firm of Faegre & Benson toward the realization of the School’s new Wolf Law Building.  The gift is being joined by an additional $50,000 in individual pledges from CU friends and alumni at the firm's Colorado offices.  Together the gifts will fund construction of a 100 seat state-of-the-art classroom in the new law building.  In announcing the gift, Faegre & Benson partner Michael S. McCarthy cited the firm’s longtime connection to the Law School.  “Given our firm’s strong and lengthy relationship with the Law School we are delighted to be able to make this investment in the future of this great Colorado institution,” said McCarthy, who serves on CU’s Law Alumni Board.   Dean David Getches accepted the donation on behalf of the Law School, invoking the special ties that unite the two institutions. "We are gratified by the leadership and generosity of Faegre & Benson, a firm whose civic and social responsibility is well known," said Getches. “This donation reinforces a bond for which we are daily thankful and that carries us closer to our vision of a new home for the Law School.”  The Faegre & Benson gifts represent an important step in the Law School’s campaign to raise private donations to complete construction on the Wolf Law Building, scheduled to open in summer 2006.  “Faegre & Benson has shown exceptional philanthropic leadership for the legal community and indeed, for the state of Colorado,” said Julie Levine, CU Foundation’s Director of Development for the Law School.  “This carries us into the homestretch.  The Law School has already raised $10.8M of the $12.8M needed to complete the new building.  The groundswell of support from Colorado law firms like Faegre & Benson has generated incredible momentum in the final phase of the campaign.” About Faegre & BensonFaegre & Benson is the fourth largest firm in Colorado with more than 100 attorneys and is a recognized leader in the Colorado law community.
