The Latin American Studies Center at CU Boulder is proud this Spring 2017 to continue an initiative to enhance social science and humanities research in Latin America and support undergraduate research opportunities on the University of Colorado Boulder campus. We are therefore accepting faculty proposals for Faculty Mentored Undergraduate Research in Latin America.

We hope to support faculty planning new projects or planning to open new phases of their research who would like to engage undergraduate students in this undertaking. We ask faculty applying to this new initiative to devote 25% of project resources to mentoring and/or supporting undergraduate collaborators. Faculty should propose a budget reflecting this point and illustrating that undergraduate collaboration will account for 25% of the total budget.

The board is particularly interested in proposals that suggest a new research theme or new phase of an existing research project by a faculty member. The project will also account for how undergraduate researchers will be utilized within the project. Proposals seeking support can request up to $4000 as long as 25% of the total budget is allocated to undergraduate mentorship. Proposals are due: Monday, April 3, 2017 at 5 p.m. EST.

In addition to filling out the following form, please email a copy of your CV (5 pages maximum) to lasc@colorado.edu.

Please submit a budget which includes a description of use of funds, including how undergraduate researchers will be incorporated into the project. Undergraduate collaboration should comprise at least 25% of the budget.
Please submit a brief timeline for research and completion.
Please submit one paragraph explaining the desired outcome(s) for undergraduate participants.
