LGTC 5032: Digital Games and Language Learning

8 week course (2cr): July 1 to August 26, 2017 ($760)

Through scholarly readings; discussions with experts, your peers and your instructor; game play and lesson planning, you will conduct an in-depth exploration of the potential of games for language learning. No gaming experience required.

LGTC 5045: Telecollaboration Exchange for Language Learning

6 week course (1cr): July 8 to Aug 19, 2017 ($380)

The goal of this course is to allow you to work on your own language proficiency. You will meet twice a week for 30 minutes with a native or near native speaker of the language you teach via video conferencing. You will conduct 10 sessions total. Each week, you will listen back to your sessions and write short reflections as well as read and discuss short articles related to the challenges of developing and maintaining oral proficiency with your instructor and classmates. Note: There are no scholarships available for 2 and 1 credit hour courses. 

LGTC 5020: Language Technology Foundation

10 week course (3cr): June 17 to August 26, 2017 ($1140)

Through discussions, readings, lesson planning and a research project, learn to leverage technology to engage and motivate students to learn the target language. You will also get a crash course in GoogleDrive and VoiceThread (free license inc. with course registration). Visit the course page.

LGTC 5010: Fundamentals of SLA

10 week course (3cr): June 3 to August 12, 2017 ($1140)

In this course, you will learn about major theoretical approaches to Second Language Acquisition. You will explore the educational potential such theories through scholarly readings and practical implementation, and you will assess their usefulness in the classroom. Visit the course page
