"Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less." Marie Curie (French physicist, twice winner of the Nobel Prize, 1867-1934)

Dr. Erbse earned her Chemistry Diploma (equivalent to Master’s Degree in the USA) and her Doctor of Natural Science (Dr.rer.nat.) from the University of Kaiserslautern in Germany. Since completing her thesis, Dr. Erbse has worked in diverse fields from protein folding and degradation to kinase signaling in bacteria and to bioenergetics.

In November 2012 she took on a new position at the University of Colorado at Boulder in the Department  Biochemistry to establish the new Shared Instruments Pool (SIP). In addition, she became the director of the Macromolecular X-ray Core.

Dr. Erbse has a diverse set of skills in biophysics, biochemistry, protein chemistry and molecular biology developed in over 18 years of research. This puts her in an ideal position to direct both facilities and to provide support for a multitude of different research projects.
