Submissions: General Info

We are looking for:

  • Fiction (3,000 word maximum)
  • Poetry (no more than five at a time)
  • Prose poetry, flash fiction, and other “experimental” genres
  • Non-fiction; including personal essays, book reviews, critical pieces, interviews, etc. (3,000 word maximum)
  • Black & white photography
  • Art with a strong sense of line that works well in black and white

We are not looking for “genre” literature (Science fiction or Fantasy; Westerns; Horror; Romance or Erotica; Juvenile; Mystery or Detective). We recommend that you familiarize yourself with divide before submitting your work. Sample copies may be purchased for $5.00.

All submissions must be accompanied by an SASE with adequate postage. We do not accept submissions by e-mail or fax.

We usually respond to submissions after 3-6 months. Please do not query regarding the status of your work before six months have passed.

Due to the large volume of work submitted for consideration, we can in no way be responsible for unsolicited submissions that may be lost, stolen, or otherwise unaccounted for at the end of our reading period.

Unfortunately, we do not currently have the resources to respond with individual comments on unsolicited work. We accept (and encourage) simultaneous submissions, but please notify us if your work has been accepted elsewhere.
