About divide A new literary annual of creative responses to contemporary social questions
divide, sponsored
by the University of Colorado at Boulder's Program
for Writing and Rhetoric is an interdisciplinary print periodical designed to present a multiplicity
of voices and visions clustered around each issue's central theme. We are committed
to fostering creative and intellectual debate, and to placing side-by-side
ideas which would not easily rest together elsewhere.
To encourage this variety of voices, divide will utilize a variety of forms: personal and critical essays, fiction, poems, reviews, conversations, photo essays, and art. New work will appear side by side with contributions from artists and thinkers who have already gained recognition.
Our goal is to create a forum for the best writing, art, and
ideas currently being produced on a given theme, and to let the voices in
each issue of divide form whatever harmony or dissonance
our readers wish to make of them. Our first three issues will focus on the Death
of the New West? (Fall 2003), Pax Americana (Fall
2004), and Art and Politics (Fall 2005). Our forthcoming (Fall 2006) issue will focus on Travel and Enlightenment. |
