the School drawn from Anthropology,
English, Art and Art History (formally
called Fine Arts), Linguistics,
Languages, Communication, Sociology,
History, Comparative Literature,
Religious Studies, Philosophy or
Education. Outside courses should
reflect a cultural emphasis and
would be selected in consultation
with the student’s
adviser.
- Environmental Issues and Media. This
emphasis focuses on environmental issues
and policies in relation to media.
Students choosing this emphasis
would earn both a master’s
degree in mass communication research
and a Certificate in Environmental
Policy. Because of the requirements
associated with the Graduate Certificate
Program in Environmental Policy,
requirements for this emphasis differ
slightly from those in the other
emphases: two specific inside
classes are required (5812 Science
Writing, 5872 Reporting on the Environment),
no courses from the other Emphases are
required, and the thesis must
focus on an environmental subject
or issue.
