Welcome to the Teens and the
Supernatural Home Page
Judging from prime time television, popular Hollywood films, and
popular books of fiction, young Americans today are fascinated with
the supernatural realm. This project considers whether and how popular
culture may be replacing religion as a source of mythic storytelling
about what is ultimately meaningful in U.S. culture, and how these
changes are occurring among young people that differ according to
race, class, gender, religious, or cultural background.
