Project Information
This project extended the work developed in the "Symbolism,
Media, and the Lifecourse" research project, which explored
how household media use and religious beliefs intersect. The
project integrated household-based studies of religious meaning-making
into larger contexts of social networks and formal and informal
associations. The project also foregrounded emerging media
practices involving computer-mediated communication such as
the Internet and the World Wide Web. These new technologies
are increasingly embedded in U.S. households and in U.S. family
life, and as such, they intersect with the religious practices
of the home and family.
