Research Questions

Questions for this project include:

• In the conversations about new technology that appear in the news, it is often taken for granted that we must 'level the playing field' or close the 'digital divide.' But how is this to be done?
  
  
• How do people on the low-income or at-risk side of the digital divide feel about their own computer skills (or lack of them)? How do they relate this to their own hopes, dreams, definitions of success?
  
  
• Who do they think is responsible for closing the gap or providing access to the technology:
  • public schools?
  • private corporations?
  • their chruches and other community organizations?
  • they themselves?
    
    
• What is the relationship of technological proficiency and success?
