Associate Professor Tom Yulsman was appointed to the faculty in 1996 after having served as editor-in-chief of Earth magazine. He is head of the School's News-Editorial sequence, co-director of the School's Center for Environmental Journalism, and a senior faculty member in CU’s environmental studies program. With help from a university grant, Yulsman recently embarked on a project to transform himself into a multimedia journalist and journalism instructor. He has participated in several interdisciplinary efforts on campus, including the NSF-funded carbon, climate and society initiative. His book, Origins: The Quest For Our Cosmic Roots, was published in 2003. Yulsman’s work has appeared in such national publications as The New York Times, The Washington Post, Audubon and Discover. He holds a master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and a BA in environmental studies from Harpur College at the State University of New York at Binghamton.
