Faculty Profile
Associate Professor Tom Yulsman was appointed to the faculty in 1996 after having served as editor-in-chief of Earth magazine. He is co-director of the School’s Center for Environmental Journalism, and a senior faculty member in CU’s Environmental Studies program, where he directs the Graduate Certificate in Environment, Policy and Society. He has participated in several interdisciplinary efforts on campus, including the NSF-funded carbon, climate and society initiative. His book, “Origins: The Quest For Our Cosmic Roots” (IOP), was published in 2003. Yulsman’s work has appeared in such national publications as The New York Times, The Washington Post, Audubon and Discover, and lately online for Web sites focusing on the environment and journalism, such as the Yale Forum on Climate Change and the Media, and the CEJ’s blog, http://www.cejournal.net. He holds a master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and a BA in environmental studies from Harpur College at the State University of New York at Binghamton.
