Associate Professor Brett Robbs joined the faculty in 1992. He has more than 20 years of professional advertising experience and joined CU from Washington, D.C., where he was vice president and co-creative director of the DDB Needham advertising agency. He earlier served as senior writer/creative group head for the McCann-Erickson agency in Chicago. He also served as administrative director of the Center for Southern Folklore. He continues to develop advertising for a variety of organizations including National Geographic and the University of Colorado.  He also creates video scripts for a number of non-profits such as the Sierra Club and Upward Bound.  His research focuses on how changes in the advertising industry should impact the advertising curriculum.  Robbs earned both a PhD and MA in English at Vanderbilt University. With Deborah Morrison, he edited “Idea Industry: How to Crack the Advertising Career Code” (One Club, 2008).  Robbs and fellow authors conducted interviews with more than 100 top professionals.  The book provides an inside look at the major areas in an advertising agency and offers practical advice about how to launch an advertising career.
