This incomplete Resources section of the exhibit is aimed primarily at journalists and other researchers who need to understand and produce written or electronic material about nuclear issues. While a considerable amount of nuclear information is available on the Web, little is organized in a way that is useful for journalists new to the subject as well as for those who already possess some expertise. Atomic Archive provides the history and science of nuclear weapons, including timelines, maps, historic documents, a glossary of terms, photographs, animations,and video-clips of atomic explosions. The site also provides information about nuclear stockpiles, forces, test sites, facilities, and accidents.
Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists published by the Educational Foundation for Nuclear Science (EFNS), "provides non-technical, scientifically sound, policy-relevant information about nuclear weapons and other global security issues to the general public, policy makers, scientists, and journalists. In addition to the full-text of the journal from 1990 to the present, the site provides a "Nuclear Notebook" that contains facts and figures on nuclear weapons and weapons facilities.
Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Proliferation News and Resources . ASP Provides news and analysis on nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction including chemical and biological weapons, fissile materials, and missile proliferation. The site's extensive resources include country information, threat assessments, international treaties, links to US government resources, and other information.
Historical Nuclear Weapons Test Films provides brief extracts (in MPEG and Real Media formats) of declassified films of nuclear weapons tests. In addition, the site provides information on how to order the complete films from the Department of Energy.
Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC): Nuclear Weapons and Waste asp The NRDC, an activist environmental organization, provides both introductory and in-depth analyses of nuclear issues.
Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) provides country overviews that list nuclear, biological and chemical weapons and missile programs, issue briefs, a glossary of terms, extensive online publications, and current news. "NTI's mission is to strengthen global security by reducing the risk of use and preventing the spread of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons."
Perspective on the Dangers of Plutonium -- A scientific assessment of the "acute and long-term health effects that can arise from ingesting or inhaling various amounts of plutonium" prepared by scientists at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site -- The official site of the cleanup operation provides fact sheets, safety reports, a list of documents in the public reading room, site closure documents, and links to related sources of information. Content previously posted on the site is undergoing security review and is not available at the present time.
