Associate Professor Bruce Henderson

Bruce Henderson Associate Professor Bruce Henderson was adviser for the Campus Press and taught Digital Newsroom and Educational Web Site Theory and Production. He also created and taught a graduate-level course through Adams State College in Alamosa.

Henderson continues to research the role of the World Wide Web in teaching and learning. He authored a computer program called “Contextualeyes” that allows researchers to perform content analyses of Web sites. This was the first work produced by a member of the School to be promoted through the University's Office of Technology Transfer. Henderson has presented his program at two academic conferences this year.

Henderson served as the head of the Communication, Technology and Policy Division of the Association of Educators in Journalism and Mass Communication.

He also received two grants. One was a CU Technology Fellow Grant to support research into the use of his Contextualeyes program and for the assessment of teaching and learning using the Web. In addition, he received a Colorado Council on the Arts Grant for an outreach program that involved creating an online framework for three Colorado poets, eight high school teachers and 200 high school students in various parts of Colorado. This will be a virtual poetry-in-residence program.

Henderson was also invited to join the E-Learning Study Group, which analyzes technology tools that support teaching. In Boulder this year, he organized, hosted and funded an academic conference for several divisions of the Association for Educators in Journalism and Mass Communication.
