Belue takes over as dean's assistant

Amy Belue, the new assistant to the dean, is enjoying her move from the East Coast to Boulder.

"I really enjoy the weather," she said. "The scenery is also so beautiful."

Belue moved to Boulder in March 2004 when her husband took a job at Ball Aerospace in Boulder. She had worked as the assistant to the dean at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass.

Before that, she worked in northern Virginia for a few corporations including Price WaterhouseCoopers securities.

Belue said she embraces the challenge of her new position.

"This is a comfortable job for me," She says. "I like to be busy."
Belue said the people around the J-school made her feel welcome and helped her adapt to her new position. She said Geri Boucher, former assistant to Dean Paul Voakes, made the transition particularly smooth.

"Geri left it very organized," Belue said.

While Belue said she enjoys the Boulder area, she does miss her friends and family members in Virginia and Massachusetts.

Belue and her husband live in Erie. She enjoys quilting, cooking, hiking and travel, and she said she looks forward to exploring more of Colorado.
