Associate Professor Tom Yulsman

tom yulsmanAssociate Professor Tom Yulsman taught Science Writing, Precision Journalism, Magazine & Feature Article Writing, and Science & Environmental Journalism/Critical Thinking in Environmental Studies.

Yulsman's book, "Origins: The Quest for Our Cosmic Roots," was published in February. He gave a lecture based on the book at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. He has also given talks at the Tattered Cover book store and on campus.

The book deals with some of the most profound questions in science, such as how the universe could have sprouted from nothing, how galaxies originate, how solar systems form and how Earth became an oasis of life that has produced a species intelligent enough to wonder about such things.

In January, Yulsman became co-director of Center for Environmental Journalism at the School.

"In this role, I have assumed primary responsibility for the Scripps Howard Institute on the Environment, which brings 25 working journalists to campus for a week of presentations and field trips. In the fall, Scripps provided funding for three additional institutes, which are held each May," he said.
