Professor Stewart M. Hoover

stewart hooverProfessor Stewart M. Hoover completed 15 months as interim dean of the School. In addition, he taught a graduate seminar, Media, Myth and Ritual.

His field research on meaning-making in the media age continues, assisted by graduate and undergraduate students from the School. He made presentations at conferences in Seoul, South Korea; Barcelona, Spain; Salt Lake City and Toronto. He co-organized a research seminar in Quito, Ecuador, and spent a week as a visiting professor at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He and Lynn Schofield Clark ('98 Ph.D.) held the first of two doctoral fellowship seminars funded by a grant from the Lilly Endowment, assisted by Diane Alters ('02 Ph.D.).

With Clark, Alters, Joseph Champ ('01 Ph.D.) and Lee Hood ('00 Ph.D.), he completed the manuscript for "Media, Home and Family," a book to be published early in 2004 by Routledge Press. He also signed a contract for his next independent work, "Religion in the Media Age," which will be published in late 2004.
