Associate Professor Tom Duncan

tom duncanAssociate Professor Thomas Duncan taught a special-topics integrated marketing communications course and IMC principles and practices.

He worked with the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver, which is taking over the IMC graduate program developed by Duncan and Professor Sandra Moriarty 10 years ago at CU. DU will offer an MBA in integrated marketing communications. The graduate IMC program recently was discontinued by the CU-Boulder School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Also, Duncan has been appointed book review editor of the International Journal of Marketing Communication.

Duncan and Moriarty were invited to participate in a think-tank on brand architecture during the last week of October. It was sponsored by the Foundation for Scientific Research on Commercial Communication, known as SWOCC, which is affiliated with the faculty of marketing communication at the University of Amsterdam.

The two-day meeting was the culmination of a three-month online forum that engaged participants in an international discussion of brand portfolio management. While in Amsterdam, Duncan and Moriarty addressed a meeting of the local Dutch practitioner sponsors of SWOCC, which includes marketing and advertising managers and market researchers. Duncan spoke on "Strategic Multi-Tier Branding," and Moriarty spoke on "The Visual Communication Dimension of Branding." Both also made presentations to a marketing communication graduate class at the University of Amsterdam.
