Richa Giri ('00) covered a lot of territory in just three years.

"It has been quite a journey," said Giri, 24, program coordinator at a Los Angeles educational television station.

"Right after graduation, I was hired as a reporter and backup anchor for a small station in Minnesota. It was there that I fine-tuned my reporting skills in temperatures 30 degrees below zero," she said.

Since then, she's been working in warmer climes.

"I was immediately hired as a producer and program coordinator for a local cable TV channel in Dallas, Texas. I was able to host community events and report on local events in the Dallas area. Through this job, I was also able to start up a media literacy program for students interested in TV production," she said.

That experience led to her current position at LA 36 (www.la36.org).

"It's an educational channel that reaches over 1.6 million viewers. I host a community calendar segment, teaching media literacy to students, producing documentaries, hiring and recruiting interns, and reporting on various community events in the Los Angeles area," Giri said.

"I love everything about my job. I most enjoy producing documentaries for our channel, creating a worthy piece that viewers really respond to."
