The ‘70s

Jim Lyons (’77) recently spent a year sailing in the Caribbean. He and his wife plan to set sail once again after hurricane season. The Lyons’ live in Tampa Bay, Fla., where Lyons is an investigator for the state’s attorney general.

Richard Rhinehart (’79) wrote a book on the history of Colorado Caves and underground exploration called Colorado Caves (Westcliffe Publishers), now available at bookstores. He lives in Greenwood Village.

The ‘80s

Shelly A. (Finegan) Wright (’81) and her family moved to Tampa, Fla., after she accepted the position of general sales manager of WXPX-TV Pax Tampa, which has a joint sales agreement with WFLA-TV. swright@wfla.com

Jenny Herring (’82) continues with the Principal Capital in Des Moines, Iowa. She says she still remembers her Colorado roots and proudly displays her CU bumper stickers and license plate on her car. herring.jenny@principal.com

Neil Woelk (’82) of the Boulder Daily Camera won second-place from the Colorado Associated Press Editors and Reporters Association in the sports column category for medium markets.

Darcy Bonfils (’83 MA), a WABC-TV “Eyewitness News” producer received the Writers Guild of America Award for a half-hour special she wrote, “Hurricane: Eyewitness to a Storm.” The special was also nominated for an Emmy. “How to Survive a Plane Crash,” another piece she wrote, was also nominated in the same category. She lives in New York.

Chris Fowler (’85) has been spotted in local grocery stores. A life-sized picture of the ESPN personality has been seen in Boulder County on a display for chips and salsa. He lives in New York, N.Y.

Clint Talbott (’85) of the Boulder Daily Camera won second-place from the Colorado Associated Press Editors and Reporters Association in the news column category for medium markets.

Graham Hill (’86) lobbied for electric-car regulations to be enacted in California, which now has a zero-emission vehicle mandate requiring auto makers to produce thousands of electric cars by 2003. The law triggered several similar laws in Massachusetts, New York and Vermont. He lives in Boulder.

Eric Shephard (’87), producer for E! Entertainment Television, received his first primetime Emmy nomination for a documentary on the 1970s sitcom “All in the Family,” which aired as a part of the channel’s “True Hollywood Story” series. He’s also produced documentaries on Judy Garland and John F. Kennedy Jr. He lives in Los Angeles.

Lynne Cascio Bedell (’88 MA) is assistant communications director for Westchester County, N.Y. Her work includes coordinating publications, organizing press events and writing for special projects. Previously, she spent nine years as a reporter for the local daily newspaper.

Shane Harvey (’88) is a real estate lawyer in the Aspen area with the Denver-based law firm Holland & Hart. He lives in Snowmass Village.

Lavonne Luquis (’88) is the first director of Spanish language media services for the University of California. She previously worked as a newspaper reporter and editor as well as serving as president and chief executive officer of Latino.com, the first Internet start-up focusing on the Latino audience in the United States. She lives in San Francisco.
