A familiar face in the School's advertising classes got even more familiar this year when Adjunct Instructor Richard Goode-Allen agreed to take on a full-time one-year appointment.

Goode-Allen teaches courses in Copy and Layout Advertising Campaigns and Advertising and Society. He also sits on graduate committees.

Goode-Allen worked on Madison Avenue for eight years as a copy writer before leaving to teach high school. In 1992, after teaching at a high school for two years in New York City, he moved to Boulder for a change of scenery and to be closer to family.

"What I hope to bring to the school is a focus on the moral and ethical responsibilities and the potential of marketing and marketers," he said.

He has a bachelor's degree in history and a master's degree in education, both from Columbia University.

Dennis DuBe' ('71) brings extensive experience as a publisher and editor of print media to the School. DuBe helped Associate Professor Bruce Henderson create the Electronic Journalism course for the School in 1994 and continues to teach it.

This year he took on additional responsibilities at the New Media Center, where he coordinates development of the School's online capabilities.

DuBe' was publisher of the Colorado Daily, Audience Magazine and the Boulder Courier; managing editor of Boulder Magazine; Straight Creek Journal and Communications-Engineering Digest and associate editor of CableVision Magazine, Media Business News and MSO Magazine.

He also directed Apple Computer's Electronic Media Lab in Boulder.

DuBe' was instrumental in securing the broadcast license for Boulder's KGNU-FM

Martha Larson has more than ambitious advertising students keeping her on her toes this year.

"To help keep myself humble -- and because it's fun --I'm taking an undergraduate ballet class."

Larson teaches undergraduate Advertising Research and Campaigns courses and graduate Interactive Marketing Communication. She has a one-year teaching appointment.
"With nearly 20 years of business experience, I feel I have a good range of experiences to draw from. I bring a very well-rounded background in marketing and marketing strategy," she said.
"I enjoy being in an academic environment, where we critically examine the theory and frameworks which drive professional practice," she said.

Larson has a bachelor's degree from Cornell University and an MBA from Northwestern University.

Laurie Van Horn ('97 MA) received a one-year appointment to teach Reporting 1 and Reporting 2. She previously taught part-time at the School.

She has been a writer, editor and page designer at newspapers around the country, including the Newport News, Va., Daily Press, The Idaho Statesman and the Denver Rocky Mountain News.

Before coming to teach at CU full-time, Van Horn was the associate director of marketing for CU and the media relations director for CU's College of Business and Administration.
She has a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She earned her master's degree at CU-Boulder.

Van Horn piloted a distance education class with Assistant Dean Steve Jones.

She is also the Society of Professional Journalists chapter adviser, and said she welcomes any ideas and participation from alumni.
