James Mather Vincent ('80) has been the editor of BASS Times and senior writer for the Bassmaster Magazine/ESPN Outdoors for 20 years. Vincent was a special guest of the National Wildlife Federation Action Fund event during the Democratic National Convention in Denver in August. Vincent, who goes by "Matt," won the nation's best outdoor communicator award from the American Sportfishing Association. He lives on a small farm outside of his hometown of
Yuma. He was the first editorial editor of the Campus Press under the guidance of the late Mal Deans.

Thomas Kuhn ('81) received a 2008 "What's Right With The Region" award on behalf of PHL Inc., a nonprofit organization he helped found. PHL works to repair and build athletic facilities and equipment for public school districts in the St. Louis area.

Dave Plati ('82), associate athletic director at CU-Boulder, is the author of "University of Colorado Football Vault." The new book includes reproductions of historical items including a statistics sheet from the 1938 Cotton Bowl, Byron "Whizzer" White's Hall of Fame letter from 1952, a 1990 national championship sticker and Bob Anderson's Hall of Fame card from 2006. Plati, who was promoted to associate athletic director by CU Athletic Director Mike Bohn in 2005, teaches an athletic media relations class at the SJMC each spring. He says, "Something I've experienced well over 150 times, and there's nothing quite like it (is) game day at Folsom, everything is in place and you're ready to go, five minutes before kickoff and there's that pregame calm in the press box. Then Ralphie is turned loose to lead the Buffs on the field; I will never, ever tire of watching that."

Brent Cannon ('84) was part of two Emmy-winning teams this year at NBC11 in San Jose, Calif. The Northern California Chapter of the National Television Academy recognized the teams for best daytime newscast and specialty assignment reporting. Cannon co-anchors the weekday morning news with his wife, Laura Garcia-Cannon.

Johnny Dodd ('85), a writer for People magazine, is the author of two books: "Mozart and the Whale" and "Inside the Mind of BTK."

Roger Boss ('86) is the segment-marketing manager at Hewlett-Packard. He lives and works from his home in Florissant.

Jim Redmond (MA '89, Ph.D. '93), who received the first doctorate awarded by the School, has retired as chair of the Department of Journalism at the University of Memphis. He has moved back to his home state of Montana to live on the south end of Flathead Lake.

Nick Seifert ('89) is the president of Fischer Productions based in Park City, Utah. He produces hunting and fishing series such as "Wanna Go Fishing?" and "Offshore Adventures," which has won two Emmy awards.
