NEW FACULTY:
Campus Press boss Herdy brings print, broadcast experience
Amy Herdy |
Veteran journalist Amy Herdy is the new manager of The Campus Press.
"We received applications from some highly qualified journalists, but Amy brought exactly the kind of experience I was looking for: significant newspaper, television and Web journalism, plus a long list of award-winning investigative projects," Dean Paul Voakes said. "I was hoping she would instill in her students a new level of energy and a new awareness of multimedia storytelling. I have not been disappointed."
Herdy, a working journalist for nearly 20 years, began her career at television stations in Kentucky and Florida before joining the St. Petersburg Times as a crime reporter in 1996. In 2002 she joined The Denver Post as a criminal justice reporter.
In 2006, Herdy became an investigative producer for KUSA-Channel 9, NBC's Denver affiliate. She has won many awards including an Emmy, Military Reporters and Editors award, Colorado Association of Black Journalists award, Society of Professional Journalists awards and American Society of Newspaper Editors awards.
Her presentations include, "Covering Violence and Teaching Emotional Injury," March 2007, University of Oklahoma, Norman, and 2005 plenary, National Center for Victims of Crime conference, Washington, D.C.
Herdy has a degree in broadcast journalism from Murray State University. |
