Susan Smith ('70) is the author of a suspense novel, "The Timer Game," which will be published in January in the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany and Taiwan. She has written two TV movies for Lifetime, one for ABC and one for CBS; one was a finalist for a PEN award and starred Lynn Redgrave. She also anchored TV in Anchorage, Alaska, andwrote magazine articles for McCall's Magazine on James and Mari Michenerand New Women Magazine on Iditarod musher Susan Butcher. As a playwright, she won the Stanley Drama Award andwas an O'Neill Playwright at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's National Playwrights Conference. Michael Knisley ('75) is a senior deputy editor for ESPN in Connecticut.
Lou Layman ('75) returned to Colorado last summer after retiring from the National Park Services, where she was a writer-editor for more than 28 years. She lives in Rifle.
Jerry Ruhl ('75), has coauthored numerous books with the world's leading Jungian psychotherapist, Robert A. Johnson. Ruhl's latest book is "Living Your Unlived Life: Coping with Unrealized Dreams and Fulfilling Your Purpose in the Second Half of Life." The book is a study of how unfulfilled personal potential can haunt us, yet can be constructively dealt with.

Philip Espinosa ('82) is vice president for human resources at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center in Reading, Pa.
Jenny Herring ('82) has earned a master's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Iowa State University. Her thesis explored the impact of television on the work ethic among the baby boom generation. Herring is an investment communications adviser for Principal Global Investors in Iowa.

Susan Barney Jones (MA '84) retired from the University of Colorado in June 2007, after 18 years as editor of Silver & Gold Record, CU's faculty and staff newspaper. She was the managing editor of an eight-person news staff, producing the weekly newspaper that is delivered to employees at the CU campuses in Boulder, Denver, Aurora and Colorado Springs. She joined the staff in 1986 as assistant editor and Boulder campus reporter, and was promoted to editor in 1989.

Jeff Mason ('88) took over the Boulder Backroads Marathon in February. Mason added a 5K and 10K to the September event and changed the name to the Boulder Marathon.
Scott VanOrdstrand ('89) has spent the last three years as the equipment and technology manager at the Community College of Aurora Colorado Film School as well as teaching several courses and advising students on internships.
