New Scripps Fellows begin study at School
Five journalists were selected as the 2005-06 Ted Scripps Fellows in Environmental Journalism at the School.
- Bebe Crouse is the environment editor for National Public Radio in Washington, D.C. Crouse's career includes five years at CBS News writing daily news analysis and commentary for Dan Rather.
- Don Hopey is an environment reporter at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
- Jeff Johnson is senior editor for Chemical & Engineering News in Washington, D.C.
- Greg Stahl is the senior reporter at the Idaho Mountain Express in Ketchum, Idaho.
- Andrea Welsh is a correspondent for Dow Jones Newswires in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Ad students fare well at The One Show in May
Five current and former SJMC students were among the finalists in May at The One Show, the advertising industry's most prestigious awards program.
Finalists included the team of Jeremy Boland ('03) and Eric Terchila, and the team of Chad Brophy ('05), Mark Griffin ('05) and Sara Corenzwit ('05). CU had more finalists in the advertising division than any other four-year university, Associate Professor Brett Robbs said.
Journalism still popular with CU students
The School accepted 54 percent of the applicants or 189 students for fall admission.
The advertising sequence accepted 46 percent, Broadcast News accepted 50 percent, News-Editorial 59 percent, Broadcast Production 68 percent, and Media Studies 80 percent. The overall GPA of the applicants was 3.4, and the journalism GPA was 3.6.
The master's program had 36 new students: 24 Newsgathering and 12 Research. |
