Melvin Mencher ('47) published the 10th edition of "News Reporting and Writing," a reporting and writing textbook used in more than 300 colleges and universities.

Ruth Keesling ('53) is the president of Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund. Her work helped bring the number of mountain gorillas up from 243 in 1985 to 742 this year.
