Phone campaign proceeds, donor numbers way up By Kathleen H. Contrino SJMC Director of Development
Thank you to the many loyal, generous alumni who donated to our Annual Giving drive last year. The fund-raising campaign was an overwhelming success. Pledges for the School of Journalism and Mass Communication’s 2003- 2004 phone campaign increased by 168 percent compared to the previous year, when 220 alumni and friends gave $13,082. This year an amazing 435 donors pledged $34,988. We are especially proud of our 107 first-time donors. In addition, thank you to alums who contributed through our direct mail campaigns. You helped us raise $2,500. Dean Paul Voakes noted that these gifts are tremendously important to the success of the School, especially in an era of dwindling state support for higher education. “The annual fund provides us with the means to do many of the things that distinguish a good school from a really good school,” Voakes said. “From student travel scholarships and diversity recruiting events to software updates and prominent guest speakers, we are able to enrich our students’ education – thanks to the annual fund.” Our goal for this year is $60,000, so when a CU student calls, please give generously. Donations can also be made online at our secure Web site: www.cufund.org/giveonline/. Thank
you in advance for your gift. |
