Liora HalperinLiora Halperin, Assistant Professor of History and Jewish Studies, and Endowed Professor of Israel/Palestine Studies, gave lectures about her book, Babel in Zion: Jews, Language, and Nationalism in Palestine, 1920-1948 at Middlebury College (VT) and the University of Oxford. While in Oxford, Prof. Halperin also worked with archival collections at the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies related to the early history of Zionist settlement in late 19th century Palestine. In April, Prof. Halperin presented new research at Columbia University's Institute for Israel and Jewish Studies workshop series. During the 2016-2017 academic year Prof. Halperin will be on leave from CU to be a fellow at the University of Michigan's Frankel Center for Advanced Judaic Studies, participating in thematic seminar on "Israeli Histories, Cultures, and Societies: Comparative Approaches" and working on a project entitled "Furrows of Memory: Narratives of Violence, Victimhood, and Heroism in Palestine’s Early Zionist Colonies"
