Anti-Spyware Software

ITS supports the use of Microsoft's free beta Windows Defender software. Download the software by clicking here. Before you are allowed to download the software, your Windows operating system will be validated, therefore it is recommended that you use Internet Explorer to download the software. This will speed up the validation process.

Special Note for Microsoft's AntiSpyware users: If you had once installed Microsoft's AntiSpyware software, you can download and install Windows Defender. During the installation process, the AntiSpyware program will be removed.

After you have downloaded the software, see the instructions below on how to install it.

Installation Instructions for Windows Defender

1. Once you have started the installer for Windows Defender, you will see a welcome window. Click Next to continue.

2. The next window you will see is the license agreement for using Windows Defender. Make sure that you select I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click Next.

3. In the next window, you will be asked to install definition updates. Please select Use recommended settings.

4. In the next window, you will determine the setup type. Select Complete and click Next.

5. You are now ready to install Windows Defender. Click on the Install button to proceed with the installation.

5. Once the installation has completed, make sure that Check for updated definitions and run a quick scan now is checked and click Finish.

6. Windows Defender will open and check for updated definitions.

8. Windows Defender is now activated to keep your computer free of most spyware.
