The Ins and Outs of User Management in the UCB Windows 2000 Campus Domain

What aspects of user management does ITS handle

  1. Create user objects as IdentiKey accounts are created
  2. Delete user objects as IdentiKey accounts are deleted
  3. Populate public information about users from UCB 411 directory
  4. Create administrative users for departments and join them to the departmental OU administrators group based on information provided by the department
  5. Create departmental users group, join users to the group, and delegate an OU to this group

What aspects of user management does your department handle

  1. Organize users into security groups for various forms of management
  2. Manage certain attributes of supported users (roaming profile, Exchange settings, etc) when appropriate
  3. Provides ITS with a list of administrative users to create and join to the departmental OU administrators group and updates ITS as users should be removed or added from this group

Responsibilities of user management

  1. Departments are responsible for notifying ITS when administrative users accounts should be created or deleted
  2. Departments are responsible for creating and controlling membership to departmental domain groups
