VPN Installation for Windows XP/2000

Before you Install the VPN client:

1. Download the client here (if you have not done so already).

Note: You will need to use your CU Login Name and IdentiKey password to download the client.

2. To allow the client to install, you will have to disable your antivirus software for a short period of time. Also, note that Internet Connection Sharing may cause problems with use the client. If you are using Internet Connection Sharing click on the link below.

VPN Installation

1. After downloading the VPN installer, and disabling your antivirus software, double-click on the VPN client installer to open it.  The installer will be where you downloaded it (most commonly on the desktop).

2. If you are running Windows XP you may be asked if you want to run the software. Click Run and allow the program to continue to open.

3. Once you click Run, a new window appears that starts the installation. This is a security warning. Click on Run again.

4. The setup process will now begin. This will put all the VPN files you are installing to appropriate places on your computer. Click OK on the new window that looks like the one shown below.

5. The setup will be finished when a new window appears asking you to restart Windows.  Leave the Yes, I want to restart my computer now button selected and click the Finish button. 

6. After Windows restarts, the VPN client will be completely installed.  Remember to delete the installer file you downloaded to setup VPN so you don't accidentally run the installer again.

7. Now that you are done, make sure that your antivirus software is enabled again, or that the CUantivirus (eTrust) snooze has turned off.
