VPN Support: Network Connect
Network Connect is an application that you can install and use to have a secure on-campus network connection when you are away from campus or on UCB Wireless.

Installation instructions
To download and use Network Connect your system must have the following:
- Operating Systems and Browsers for Core Access Web Browsing, File Sharing, SSH.
- Operating Systems:
- Windows XP (32-bit, 64-bit)
- Windows Vista (32-bit, 64-bit)
- Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit)
- Mac OS 10.4, 10.5, 10.6 (64-bit)
- OpenSuse 11
- Ubuntu 8.10
- Red Hat
- Solaris
- Browsers for Windows
- IE 7 and 8
- Firefox 3.0, and 3.5
- Sun JRE 5/1.5.07 and above
- Microsoft JVM – for Windows 2000
- Browsers for Mac
- Safari 3.0
- Sun JRE 5/1.5.07 and above
- Linux
- Requirements for NetConnect
- Above Operating Systems and Browsers along with:
- Antivirus software (CUantivirus or Juniper supported cleints)
- Firewall (Windows Firewall and Juniper support clients are accepted).
Please note that Host Checker is controlled by Juniper. ITS makes requests to Juniper to add additional antivirus programs and system specifications to their accepted list, but the ultimate decision is made by Juniper.

Install
Installation requires admin privileges on your computer.
- Go to https://cuvpn.colorado.edu.
- Read the conditions of use on the right side of the screen.
- Log in with your IdentiKey.
- You will be prompted to install a host checker. When prompted, click on Always Allow.
- Wait for the host checker to complete it's process. The page will refresh to a new screen when it is done. If you do not pass the host checker, you will not be able to get access to Network Connect. Review the system requirements above to make sure your system meets the required specifications.
- Once you've passed, your web browser may prompt you to install a Juniper
application the first time you log in. You also
may be prompted to accept a certificate, both of which you should do.
- In the Client Application Sessions section, click on the Start button associated with Network Connect.
- A window will open, displaying your connection. Don't forget to Sign Off, when you're finished.
Connection instructions
Each time you need a VPN connection, open the Network Connect application.
- Open Network Connect from your Programs folder on Windows or Applications folder on Mac.
- At the Sign In At: text field, make sure it says https://cuvpn.colorado.edu.
- Enter your IdentiKey.
- Click Sign In.
- A window will open, displaying your connection. Now when you go to a web page or use an Internet enabled application your network activity will be routed through the CU-Boulder campus.
- Don't forget to Sign Off, when you're finished.
More about your connection:
With this standard connection through Network Connect:
- Your network traffic will be routed through CU-Boulder.
- You should be able to:
- You can still access your home networked devices, like a networked printer.
- Your external traffic is routed through CU-Boulder as well (like GMail and Facebook). Please review the following policies:
- You're IP address is located in the CU-Boulder's public IP space.
Network Connect's Limited Service
- The Network Connect client can also connect to a limited service that ITS provides. This service, will only route your network traffic to the campus when you access campus resources like file shares and servers.
- Limited—You will not have access UCB Libraries' partner resources from other institutions.
- To use—Open the Network Connect client and enter https://cuvpn.colorado.edu/limited in the Sign In At: text field
