Encrypting Your E-mail—Macintosh E-mail Programs

If you are using an e-mail program other than WebMail, you should encrypt your messages by configuring your software for secure connections, SSL.

Macintosh 8.6 Users

Please note that Macintosh OS 8.6 is no longer supported by the IT Service Center. Macintosh OS 8.6 does not support SSL, so for people who use e-mail programs like the ones listed below need to upgrade their system to Macintosh OS 9. Call the IT Service Center for help with this process.

How to Configure Your E-mail Program

1. Identify your e-mail client software (i.e. Eudora, Outlook, Entourage) and the version of your software (i.e. 5.0)

2. Select from the configuration instructions below and setup your software to make secure connections.

Exchange Users

Contact your network administrator and he or she will configure your software for secure connections.

3. Once you have successfuly configured your e-mail client for secure connections, encrypt your Telnet and FTP terminal applications.
