WebCal is a web browser-based application for personal, group, and resource scheduling and is available at no charge to campus students, faculty, and staff.

Impact of Daylight Saving Time Change on this Technology

Sun Microsystems, vendor for this application, has issued an application update and remediation steps. ITS will apply the recommended application update at 12:15 a.m. on Thursday, March 8. Appointments entered into WebCal after the update will be correct for both the additional 3 weeks in spring and 1 week in fall. Appointments entered prior to the update on March 8 will need to be adjusted if they occur during either the 3-week spring interval or 1-week fall interval.

Remediation Steps for Customers

Customers should print out their schedules for the periods March 11 – April 1 and October 28 – November 4 prior to the end of day on Wednesday, March 7. After the update is performed early on the morning of Thursday, March 8, customers should use the printed calendar to adjust their appointments during the March11 – April 1 and  October 28 – November 4 intervals.

In the meantime, special attention should be given to meetings scheduled from March 11 to April 1 and October 28 to November 4. One suggestion is to include the meeting time in the subject of the invitation and/or confirm meeting times with a separate e-mail message or phone call.
